One of the Newest and Most Innovative Tattoo Design Techniques

Tattoo Me Now

In general, the best tattoo design technique is and always will be getting inked with the standard ink getting injected into the skin through the tiny little needle. This is the best way to make a tattoo permanent – there is a reason that it has withstood the tests of time. Still, artists are always looking for interesting ways to make tattoos, and so they are constantly trying to come up with innovative techniques for tattoo designs to help create the next big thing.

That is what things like temporary tattoos and henna tattoos are. They were new (sort of – Henna is still very old) ways to creating tattoos that, although they were not permanent, still added a new layer to the field of tattoo designs to provide more options for how you get your tattoo.

A New Addition

Tattoo designs have experienced another new addition – a new technique to add a little bit of extra invention to the tattoo design industry.

But perhaps the most unique aspect of this tattoo design technique is that it is based on something that has been around for millions of years. Indeed, this technique has also been used as a way of marking one’s body in smaller ways, but has become more advanced in recent years. This new tattoo design method is known as “sunburn tattooing.”

What is Sunburn Tattooing?

Teenage girls have been using this technique in some ways for over a decade. They have done so by putting a sticker (often of something their parents would disapprove of, like a Playboy Bunny) and go tanning. Then, after they have gotten tanner, they would remove the sticker and there would be a Playboy Bunny tattoo in its place.

However, over the past few years, this technique has been perfected to be considerably more interesting. Now, men and women everywhere (mostly women due to the lack of hair on their bodies and willingness to go tanning) are using sun tanning to give themselves a long term temporary tattoo.

How is it Done?

Sunburn tattooing is done by cutting out a design in a tight fitting shirt or pants, and then letting yourself lay down and bask in the sun or a tanning booth until the area of your body that is showing skin has darkened, and the areas that have been blocked by the shirt or pants are still lighter.

This method allows you to give yourself a full body tattoo that is highly visible to the naked eye, but also not permanent in case you decide to change your mind. Within 8 months or so the entire design will have faded, and you have the option of getting this “tattoo” again, or getting a different design of your choice.

Sunburn Tattoos – A Good Idea?

It should be noted that this is not the best tattoo design technique for your skin. In fact, it is arguably very dangerous, as you are subjecting yourself to a great deal of sun and putting yourself at risk for skin cancer. Though it may be an innovative technique, it is absolutely not a healthy one, and not really recommended.

That said, if you are willing to risk skin cancer or serious skin damage, it is still an interesting tattoo technique nonetheless. Some people use it to test out how attractive a permanent tattoo will work in its place, while others simply want to get an unique tattoo design that they can easily get rid of if they regret the decision or want to try another full body sunburn tattoo in the future.
